About Five Nights at Freddy's 2

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is Scott Cawthon's prequel to the original FNAF, returning to a younger version of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza staffed with both the aging cast from the first game and a new line of facial-recognition-equipped animatronics that the management swears are perfectly safe. You take the night security position, monitor the cameras across the building, and try not to get killed by the animatronic puppets the company has very loudly described as kid-friendly.

The mechanical changes from the first game are substantial. Office doors no longer exist; the only barrier between you and the animatronics is an empty Freddy Fazbear head you can wear to confuse the new models into thinking you're one of them. A wind-up music box in the back of the building must be kept playing to prevent another animatronic — the Marionette — from emerging, which adds a constant resource-management pressure across the entire night. The flashlight runs on a limited battery, and several enemies require it specifically to be repelled.

The new animatronics — Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, Mangle, Balloon Boy, Withered variants of the originals — each follow different aggression patterns, and learning each character's approach behaviour is what the game tests across its five (plus optional later) nights. Fazbear Entertainment, as the briefing helpfully clarifies, is not responsible for death or dismemberment — a tagline the game backs up with the lore that quietly underpins the entire FNAF series and its long shadow over horror gaming.
