About Hotline Miami 2 Wrong Number

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is the closing chapter of Dennaton Games' Hotline Miami saga, written as a direct response to the bloodshed of the first game. Instead of following a single masked killer, the sequel rotates through several distinct factions — fans, copycats, soldiers, investigators — each with their own questionable motivations, their own approach to the violence, and their own slice of a non-linear timeline that gradually weaves together into something more disturbing than the original managed.

The top-down combat carries forward intact: punishing enemies, instant kills in both directions, weapon swaps mid-room and a heavy emphasis on planning the next four seconds rather than reacting. The sequel introduces faction-specific variations — different starting weapons, special abilities, particular restrictions — that meaningfully change how each chapter plays. Some characters can use guns freely; others are forced into melee; one of them brings two minds along for the ride.

The soundtrack is a major piece of the experience and notably larger than the original's — more than forty pounding tracks from M|O|O|N, Perturbator, Jasper Byrne, Scattle, El Huervo and a long roster of contributors that helped define what synthwave and phonk sound like outside of this game. The Digital Special Edition includes a remix EP and access to the Hotline Miami-themed Jacket character pack in Payday 2, and an in-game level editor with Steam Workshop support lets the community design and share their own missions using the existing characters, enemies, weapons and music.
