About Marc Eckō's Getting Up Contents Under Pressure
Marc Eckō's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure is a 2006 graffiti-themed action game produced by fashion designer Marc Eckō and developed by The Collective and Atomic Studios. You play Trane, a young "toy" graffiti writer in the fictional dystopian city of New Radius, trying to graduate to All City King while exposing the mayor's corruption.
The gameplay alternates between three modes: third-person combat using improvised weapons and martial arts; graffiti creation in pressure situations, executed through gesture-based controls that simulate the actual physicality of tagging; and stealth/parkour sections climbing across the city to reach hard-to-tag spots.
Real graffiti artists contributed the in-game tag art — over 100 from writers like SEEN, COPE2, OBEY, and SMITH — and graffiti styles are graded by quality, location difficulty, and visibility. Tag rare locations and your reputation grows, drawing rival writers and city authorities.
The soundtrack draws from Atmosphere, KRS-One, Aesop Rock, Public Enemy, The Roots, Talib Kweli, and Notorious B.I.G. among others. A genuine cultural artifact of mid-2000s graffiti culture, preserved here as one of the most authentic representations the medium has ever had in games.
