Sandbox

sand:box (the Steam listing styles it that way) is a falling-sand pixel sandbox in the tradition of Powder Toy and the older Java applet sand games. Particles interact with each other and gravity at the pixel level — pour sand on water, ignite gas with sparks, watch fire spread through wood.

The modern build extends well past the original genre. Digital circuit elements let you wire logic gates and create automated contraptions; small stickman characters can be dropped in as playable or interactive figures; and the rest is whatever combination of physics, fluids, and explosives you want to test.

There's no win condition or progression. The game is its own canvas, and the appeal is the same as it was twenty years ago: building strange machines, then breaking them on purpose.
