About Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Collection
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is Sumo Digital's follow-up to their first All-Stars kart racer, and the central new mechanical contribution is in the title: every vehicle transforms between car, boat and plane mode automatically as the track surface changes underneath it. Asphalt segments give way to water sections that demand boat handling, then ramp into open sky for aerial racing, all within a single lap, and the physics and weapon balance shift accordingly across each mode.
The roster spans more than twenty Sega All-Stars and licensed guests, each with their own transforming vehicle and signature handling profile. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman represent the headliner franchise; the supporting cast pulls from across Sega's deeper bench — characters from Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Skies of Arcadia, Vyse, NiGHTS, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and even the occasional cross-publisher guest. Twenty-five tracks and arenas span the full range of Sega's level-design history.
Game modes cover World Tour (a structured campaign across themed challenge sets), Grand Prix (classic kart-racing cup structure), Battle Arenas (combat-focused multiplayer maps), plus quick play and other options. Four-player split-screen on a single screen, up to ten players online, and the option to bring split-screen play into online matches keep the social side of the game flexible. The Collection edition includes the Metal Sonic and Ryo Hazuki DLC for free, and stands as one of the most genuinely accomplished kart racers outside the Mario Kart line.
