The Spirit and the Mouse

The Spirit and the Mouse is a narrative-focused adventure game set in the charming French village of Sainte-et-Claire after a thunderstorm has thrown its electrical balance out of order. You play Lila, a tiny mouse with a big heart, who has just been granted electricity-based powers by Lumion, the village's Spirit guardian. Together you need to restore balance and put Lumion back where he belongs.

Gameplay covers exploration, light puzzle-solving and small narrative beats centered on helping people. The village is built at a scale designed for a mouse's perspective — every nook and cranny matters, every rooftop is traversable, every alley hides something. Listen to the villagers' woes, then find the mischievous Kibblins (playful electric spirits) running amok and fix the local electrical problems through charming mini-games.

Collecting energy and happiness as you go unlocks new abilities throughout the campaign. Over 120 lightbulbs hide around the town, and the game includes all the tools needed to find them — there are no hidden-collectible traps or guides-required moments. The puzzles are character-driven and accommodating; this is explicitly not a precision platformer, and there's no difficulty setting to worry about.

A relaxing and melancholic piano soundtrack runs underneath everything. The art is lush and warm. The whole experience is built for unhurried sessions where you wander, listen to a stranger's story, do a small kindness, and watch the world get slightly better as a result. It's the kind of game that takes the small-moments-of-connection genre and executes it with real craft from beginning to end.
