Verdun launched the WW1 Game Series with an unflinching take on Western Front combat from 1914-1918, inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916. The trench warfare is brutally close-quarters: bayonet skill matters as much as rifle aim, and a single push can turn from offense to defense within the same engagement.

Four game modes anchor the experience. Frontlines stages dynamic 64-player attack-and-counter-attack battles where teams take turns going over the top to capture opposing trench lines. Attrition leans tactical, Rifle Deathmatch tests pure skill, and Squad Defense piles on relentless pressure. 15 distinctive squad types cover soldiers from five-plus countries, each with their own weapons and equipment.

The historical detail comes from field research at the actual battlefield and historian consultation. Uniforms are recreated to the smallest detail, weapons modeled to exact references, and maps based on real Western Front terrain. Realistic bullet physics with no floating crosshair, claustrophobic gas masks, horrendous gore effects, and ferocious artillery barrages drive the atmosphere of fighting in the mud.
