About Ancient Warfare 3

Ancient Warfare 3 is a sandbox combat game with a deliberately enormous scope. Content ranges across human history and beyond — stone age through medieval, WWI, WWII, modern era and into futuristic sci-fi settings — with 3,400-plus unit types, 1,100-plus objects and 580-plus equipment items shipping in the base content alone. The point of the game is putting any of those against any of the others and watching what happens.

Game modes cover the breadth of multiplayer-style scenarios in a single-player or sandbox context. Deathmatch, conquest, king of the hill, zombie survival, and many others ship in the base game. The custom battle editor lets you place units, objects and traps directly into scenarios with adjustable rules, behaviors and environmental conditions. You can fight, spectate, or simply set up something interesting and watch it play out.

The in-game editors are the engine's strength. A custom unit editor builds detailed units from equipment slots and appearance variables. A custom equipment editor lets you import your own 3D models for melee weapons, ranged weapons, grenades, shields, armor and other items. A custom object editor handles environment props with their own functional behaviors. An event-based visual scripting engine sits on top of all of it, exposing custom behavior and rule construction for anyone who wants to script their own scenarios.

Steam Workshop integration extends content essentially indefinitely. The community has uploaded over 23,000 player-made battles, 5,900 prefabs, 25,000 custom units, 2,200 campaigns, and uncounted equipment items and objects. Anything you make can be shared, and anything anyone else has made can be downloaded and dropped directly into your own creations. The base game is the foundation; the workshop is where most players actually live.
