About Clash Artifacts of Chaos
Clash: Artifacts of Chaos returns to the punk-fantasy world of Zenozoik that ACE Team established with Zeno Clash and Zeno Clash II, while standing entirely on its own as a starting point. You play Pseudo, a master of unarmed combat who lives as a recluse until a small, mute creature called the Boy crosses his path. The Boy's mysterious powers have drawn the attention of Gemini, Mistress of the Artifacts — and protecting him pulls Pseudo into a conflict much larger than he expected.
Combat is the spine of the game and leans into the studio's distinctive first-person-meets-third-person identity. Pseudo fights primarily in third person — attacking, dodging, stunning, blocking, parrying — but can switch to first person to land unique techniques and read enemy openings up close. Multiple martial-arts styles are learned through the journey and switched between freely depending on the opponent and the situation, and victories upgrade both attacks and core characteristics so each player develops their own style over time.
The game's most singular mechanic is the Ritual: before any major fight, you can challenge your opponent to a game of dice, and the winner gets to set the rules of the upcoming bout — summoning a monster ally, blanketing the area in fog, shackling movement, and a long list of other modifiers. Winning the Ritual is a tactical advantage, losing it is a problem to solve through play. The world of Zenozoik itself remains as distinctive as ever, drawing equally on surreal art and punk-fantasy aesthetics across landscapes that look like nothing else in games.
