About Dreams in the Witch House
Dreams in the Witch House is set in Arkham, Massachusetts in 1929. Walter Gilman, a promising math student, has just moved to the city to begin his studies at Miskatonic University. The Dombrowski boarding house where he lodges carries a bad reputation, and Walter pays the old rumors no mind, until the dreams begin. A hideous scheme is underway, and if he is not careful it could cost him not just his life but his soul. The game is based on the H.P. Lovecraft short story of the same name.
The gameplay is a unique mix of classic point-and-click adventure and open-world RPG. It is nonlinear, and many elements are randomly generated, so each playthrough differs. You have two months to prepare Walter for May-Eve, and how you spend that time is entirely your choice: focus on studies, make friends and stay in good physical and mental shape; or chase the rumors, read the forbidden books at Miskatonic and work on an occult thesis; or simply stay in bed and hope it all passes.
The game runs 10 to 20 hours, with several endings depending on your actions, RPG stats for money, health and sanity, day-night cycles and changing weather, and creeping tension as otherworldly threats intensify gradually. It features 320x180 pixel graphics with detailed animation and visual effects, plus an original soundtrack by genre favorite Troy Sterling Nies.
