Son of a Witch

Son of a Witch is an action roguelike for one to four players with cute graphics and surprisingly deep mechanics. The story is simple: the hero's mother, a kind Harry Potter-style witch who uses her powers for good, is suddenly taken to the king's castle by his guards. Sneaking in after her, the hero discovers that someone has also stolen a goblin artifact, the furious goblins have begun attacking, and a thief is loose somewhere inside.

You explore non-linear, procedurally generated dungeons, fight random encounters and a roster of 28 bosses, and visit shops, treasure rooms and challenge rooms. You pick one of ten heroes, from the armored Knight and ranged Sorceress to the potion-brewing Alchemist and the life-fueled Lich, each with different starting gear and Melee, Magic and Archery skill levels, with more characters unlocked by completing NPC quests. Combat supports three styles: melee brawling, magic shooting and long-range archery.

The game holds over 130 items and weapons, each with unique effects and rich synergies, so combining the right potions, weapons, scrolls and pets can produce devastating combos. There are 42 cute pet companions, each with a distinct effect, and a Wolf lets you keep several pets at once. The eight areas, from forest and catacombs to hell and a frozen mountain, pit you against eight enemy factions. Permadeath generates a fresh world each run, and for those who dislike it an RPG mode keeps your gear and just restarts the last level. The game was previously named My Mom is a Witch.
