About Ancient Domains Of Mystery
ADOM (Ancient Domains Of Mystery) is one of the most successful roguelikes ever created, blending story, RPG systems, exploration and intensely strategic, flexible combat. In development since 1994 and revitalized by a hugely successful 2012 crowdfunding campaign, it can be played in either ASCII or graphical mode. Deep in the Drakalor Chain, Chaos has broken through into Ancardia, and it falls to your single, highly customizable character to decide the fate of the realm.
ADOM was the first roguelike to feature vibrant towns, NPC dialogue and quests, but it offers far more: a huge world of towns, randomized dungeons, elemental temples, graveyards and ancient towers; a wide range of races such as dwarves, drakelings, mist elves, orcs and trolls and even more classes; hundreds of monsters and items with random features; spells, prayers, mindcraft, alchemy and crafting; and dozens of quests and branching story lines leading to numerous wildly different endings, from driving Chaos away to slaying a god or becoming immortal yourself.
A distinctive corruption system forces you to balance a lust for power against the fear of damnation, as corruptions slowly transform you into a vile monster while granting inhuman benefits. The Steam version adds over 70 achievements, customization options like turning hunger or corruption off, ghost creation and exchange between players, a story mode with saving, an exploration mode with a wand of wishing, and weekly challenge games with shared highscores.
