About Guacamelee! 2
Guacamelee! 2 brings Juan Aguacate out of retirement seven years after defeating Carlos Calaca, with a new threat to the very fabric of space and time forcing him back into the luchador mask. The Mexiverse — the multiverse-spanning version of the franchise's world — is in trouble, and the campaign sends Juan and friends across rifts in time and space to fix what's broken.
The gameplay carries the Metroidvania structure of the original forward with significant additions. New moves like Eagle Boost, Pollo Shot, and others extend Juan's combat and platforming vocabulary. New powers for the chicken form make ridiculous chicken-based platforming, combat, and exploration into a first-class feature rather than a novelty. Bigger maps, twice as many enemy types as the first game, and a roster of eccentric new bosses fill out the campaign.
Trainers scattered around the world offer challenges that upgrade Juan's abilities when defeated. The visual presentation runs through a new rendering engine that makes the saturated Mexican-folklore aesthetic even more gorgeous than the original. The soundtrack features new music from the original composers plus guest tracks from Mariachi Entertainment System. Drop-in/drop-out 4-player local co-op covers the entire story for couch sessions. The Chicken Illuminati exists — not that anyone said anything about that.
