About Hob
Hob is Runic Games' follow-up to the Torchlight series and a deliberate departure: no dialogue, no text, no quest markers. The protagonist wakes on a beautiful, broken planet, has their corrupted arm severed and replaced with a mechanical glove, and proceeds to transform the world by activating buried machinery.
The map physically reshapes around you. Solving an environmental puzzle might raise an entire mountain, drain a sea, deploy a bridge or unfold a city. Areas you couldn't reach now connect to new ones, and zones you once explored look completely different on the next pass. Lifeforms called sprites coexist with rogue creatures threatening their extinction, and the story of what corrupted the planet emerges entirely through environment.
The mechanical arm doubles as movement and combat: grapple onto walls, punch heavy objects, warp short distances and parry incoming attacks. Encounters lean on positioning and timing rather than long combo strings, and the camera holds a cinematic third-person angle through every traversal sequence.
