About Legends of Amberland The Forgotten Crown
Legends of Amberland: The Forgotten Crown is a one-developer love letter to early-90s western CRPGs, openly modeled on Might & Magic 3-5, Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder 2 and the Gold Box games. The party of seven heroes can either be hand-built at the start or pulled from a quick-start template, and the game runs in 90-degree-rotation first-person with grid movement.
The premise: the royal wizard discovers a crown nobody remembers despite generations of supposed history. A spell of forgetfulness has been cast on the entire land, and the party is sent to find both the crown and the source of the magic. The world is open from the start, with very few locked zones and quests that can be solved in any order.
The ergonomics are modernized. Inventory is weightless but limited by equipment encumbrance, combat is fully turn-based and brisk, and travel is fast. Playthroughs run 25-40 hours for most players, with a fairytale tone that never reaches for grim and rarely demands grinding.
