About Mirror's Edge
Mirror's Edge is DICE's first-person parkour action-adventure that introduced an entirely new vocabulary for movement in 3D space. In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes — a free communication network operating outside the surveillance state. In this seemingly utopian paradise a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed, and now you're being hunted. You play Faith, a Runner whose investigation into the conspiracy becomes the game.
The movement system is the entire identity of the experience. String together wall-runs, leaps, vaults, slides, swings and rolls in fluid acrobatic flows that turn every level of the urban environment into a continuous traversal puzzle. In first person, every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt — heights produce real vertigo, movements flow naturally rather than abstractly, and the immersive perspective gives the parkour weight that third-person platformers never match. Bullet impacts and chase sequences create genuine fear and adrenaline rather than detached arcade tension.
The combat layer leans toward fight-or-flight rather than committed gunplay. Your speed and agility let you evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents in a mix of chase sequences, puzzles, strategy and intense close-range combat. Runner vision shows the city the way Runners see it — flow, rooftops as pathways, opportunities and escape routes painted in red. The flow is what keeps you running and what keeps you alive. From the makers of the groundbreaking Battlefield franchise, Mirror's Edge remains one of the most singular first-person action games of its era.
