About Moonlighter
Moonlighter shows both sides of a coin. By day, Will runs a shop in the small commercial village of Rynoka; by night, he is an adventurous shopkeeper who secretly dreams of becoming a hero. The village was founded near an excavation site where a set of ancient Gates were discovered, passages leading to other realms full of treasures for the brave and reckless.
Shopkeeping is one half of the game. In Rynoka you put items up for sale, set prices carefully, manage your gold reserves, recruit assistants and upgrade the shop, all while keeping an eye out for shady individuals who might steal your wares. The other half is dungeon diving: you access strange worlds through the Gates and collect resources, weapons, armor and peculiar artifacts, though a unique inventory system means you cannot hoard everything and must choose the most profitable loot to carry back.
Combat is challenging and deep, rewarding masterful weapon control, critical timing, careful positioning and an understanding of your enemies. Crafting and enchanting through the villagers are essential to progression, letting you build new gear and enchant existing equipment. As you restore Rynoka's prosperity you get to know its neighbors, and Companions can join you on the procedurally varied runs through the Gates. The game has received many updates since launch, adding mini-bosses, gear, over 100 new room layouts and a New Game+ mode.
