Nightmare The Lunatic

Nightmare: The Lunatic is a rogue-lite platformer built around parrying, and it is all about escaping a nightmare with no end. To get out, you have to push far down into the dream and look for an exit, helped along by a dream merchant who turned up to trade and ended up trapped in the bad dream himself.

Powerful monsters block the path, each with telltale movements worth learning. Once you read them, you can parry what they throw and cut them down. Combat leans on a set of weapons you swap between freely, pick a loadout that suits your taste and the synergy between weapons, then switch on the fly to fight efficiently, backed by special attacks.

The dream merchant has lost all his wares, so exploring the dream is how you recover them. Among the finds are Totems, items granting a range of abilities that prove a real help on the journey. Death is no setback here, it is only a dream, and the chances never run out, so dying simply sends you back to the start with the dream's structure reshaped.
