The Artful Escape

The Artful Escape is a psychedelic side-scrolling adventure about Francis Vendetti, a teenage guitar prodigy trying to escape the legacy of his late uncle, a famous folk musician. On the eve of his first performance, he sets off on a multidimensional journey through cosmic landscapes to inspire his stage persona — searching for who he isn't.

The gameplay alternates between exploration, dialogue, and musical jam sections where you shred across multidimensional landscapes that visibly respond to your movement. Sound and traversal are linked — the world itself is treated as an instrument, and your motion composes the music in real time across each scene.

Stage persona crafting is the long-arc reward. From the sci-fi beginnings of Francis's backstory to the trim of his moonboots, you craft his identity piece by piece. Conversations with disenchanted publicans, nostalgic villagers, lumbering alien wildlife, and reality-defying behemoths fill out the journey.

The voice cast is unusually strong: Michael Johnston as Francis, Caroline Kinley, Lena Headey, Jason Schwartzman, Mark Strong, and Carl Weathers.
