The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante — Chapter 1&2

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a narrative-driven, text-based RPG framed as the protagonist's own journal, set in a fictional medieval empire where the deities known as the Twin Gods have literally divided humanity into estates — the Lots — and the social order is taken as cosmic truth. Nobles rule, the clergy guide, and the lowborn toil. Your character is born into that order and decides, over a lifetime, whether to accept it.

The free Chapter 1&2 release covers the early years of Sir Brante's journey, from infancy through young adulthood, and serves both as a complete short story and as a prologue to the full paid version (progress carries over directly). You make decisions about how Brante grows up, which skills he develops, and how he relates to the world around him; all of those choices ripple forward into who he becomes and which adult paths open or close to him.

The game's central design promise is that choice isn't an illusion. Every chapter tracks the player's actions, skill development and overlapping circumstances, threading them into a personalised plotline that won't look the same across two playthroughs. Multiple branching adult careers are foreshadowed even in the free chapters — judge, inquisitor, or member of a secret society plotting against the old order — and the game's distinctive resurrection mechanic, where Brante retains experience between deaths, lets you reevaluate choices and adjust strategy across the cycle of dying and being reborn that the world's metaphysics permits.
