Wavetale

Wavetale is a story-driven action-adventure platformer set in Strandville, a decaying archipelago built atop the remains of a once-magnificent city now submerged beneath the sea. You play Sigrid, a headstrong young girl who befriends a mysterious shadow that grants her the power to run and surf across water.

You speed through calm waters and surging waves, swing yourself between housetops with your net, and explore an open sea full of fed-up fishermen, secretive hermits and maybe a pirate or two. As a calamity that once sank the city looms again, Sigrid must save the islanders from mysterious sea monsters, uncover the past, and defeat an old nemesis, with help from the shadows below and her cranky grandmother.

It is a heart-warming tale about loss and reconciliation, set to a charming art style and a delightful soundtrack. Intuitive controls keep it accessible and family-friendly while still rewarding mastery of its fast-flowing surfing movement, and you can collect hats, hair dyes and outfits and fill Sigrid's scrapbook with drawings to learn more about her world.
