Alice Madness Returns

Alice: Madness Returns picks up eleven years after the horrific fire that took Alice Liddell's family. After a decade in Rutledge Asylum confronting her demons through repeated escapes into Wonderland, she's finally been released — but the psychological burden of that tragic event still defines her, and the visions and dreams haven't stopped.

Gameplay covers third-person action-adventure platforming across both Victorian London and a darker Wonderland. The melee combat features multiple upgradeable weapons including the Vorpal Blade (returning from the first game), the explosive Teapot Cannon, and the punishing Hobby Horse. Magical abilities let Alice float with her dress, shrink to traverse small passages, or grow to towering sizes to crush enemies. Interactive puzzles span transforming obstacles, musical memories, chess, and picture blocks.

The central narrative thread is Alice's gradual realization of what actually happened the night of the fire. Wonderland — once her refuge — has suffered in her absence, with great evil descending on what was once beautiful. Familiar characters including the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar, and the Red Queen return in increasingly twisted forms. The eventual truth, which the campaign builds toward, involves a sinister figure in the real world who has been manipulating Alice's recovery for his own purposes.
