God of War II

God of War II is an action-adventure hack-and-slash game from Santa Monica Studio and the second entry in the series, continuing the Greek-mythology saga of Kratos. Having defeated Ares, Kratos has taken his place as the new God of War, but he is an angry and vengeful ruler, tormented by memories of his past.

While leading a massacre through a city under Athena's protection, Kratos is betrayed by his fellow gods. Zeus, king of Olympus, strips him of his godhood and kills him with the Blade of Olympus, and as Hades reaches to drag him into the Underworld, the Titan Gaia intervenes to save him.

Gaia grants Kratos new life and sends him to seek out the Sisters of Fate, beings with the power to bend time itself. By reaching them, Kratos hopes to travel back, prevent the betrayal that destroyed him and finally take his revenge on Zeus, cutting through countless monsters of Greek myth on the way.
