I wanna be the Creator

I wanna be the Creator is a Chinese-developed fan game in the broader I Wanna Be The Guy lineage, with a built-in level editor and an enormous library of community-made stages. The studio is upfront that this isn't a traditional I Wanna game — the protagonist is lighter, the collision boxes are smaller, double-jumping is available in mid-air, and various small physics and detail decisions diverge from the conventional I Wanna feel. As a result, the community generally refers to it as IC rather than IW.

The bundled content covers 31 levels: two tutorials, eleven spike-jump stages, six puzzle stages, four special-gameplay stages, three trap-heavy stages, two minigame compilations, one boss fight, one exploration level, and one large world level made up of 36 smaller sub-levels. Beyond that sits an extraordinary tail of community work — over 100,000 player-created levels by late 2022, ranging from rough early experiments to seriously crafted challenges that rival the official content.

The level editor is generous. Beyond basic object placement you can modify object properties, adjust game parameters, import external images and music, and use a trigger system to implement game logic. Sufficiently deep use of the triggers lets creators build genres other than platformer entirely. Network features let you upload your own levels, download others, leave in-world messages, and challenge world-record runs. Multiplayer comes in three flavours — OL mode showing other online players' silhouettes, local couch multiplayer, and an experimental online co-op that the developers plan to rework substantially in version 3.0. Kayin, original creator of I Wanna Be The Guy, granted both fan-game authorisation and commercial-release permission.
