About Lacuna – A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure

Lacuna sets you up as CDI agent Neil Conrad in a 2D sci-fi noir solar system on the brink of war. Awoken by news of a murder, you're pulled into a case that will quickly turn into a hack, then a bombing, then the kind of escalating chain of events that could plunge the entire solar system into open conflict — unless you do something about it.

The gameplay rejects most classic point-and-click conventions. Movement uses platformer controls (WASD or controller) rather than pointing and clicking. Conversations don't repeat, so you can't grind every dialog option. Interactable objects have optional outlines, so pixel-hunting isn't required. The story can always be driven forward rather than grinding to halt at every puzzle. Real choices have multiple endings — the story branches based on your actions, and there's no going back.

Some questions don't have right answers. Will you sell out a friend to protect your family? Endanger a loved one for public safety? Keep the peace or reveal the world-shattering truth? The game is up-front that some decisions don't admit clean solutions, and the noir register supports that ambiguity. The 2D art is gorgeous; the dialog writing is the central pleasure; the choices land with real weight.
