About NORCO
NORCO is set in a distorted version of South Louisiana — specifically the area around the town of Norco and Greater New Orleans, where industrial refineries occupy verdant swamps that are slowly sinking under climate pressure. Your brother Blake has gone missing in the aftermath of your mother's death, and the search takes you through suburbs, oil infrastructure, drainage ditches, and strip malls outside New Orleans.
The gameplay is point-and-click narrative adventure with a focus on dialogue and puzzles. A fugitive security android leads you toward Blake's last known whereabouts. The campaign opens up to include a chaotic bayou pirate, a bar-stool private detective, your stuffed childhood monkey, and an influencer cult squatting an abandoned mall on the outskirts of the city.
The art is painterly cinematic pixel art that captures the specific industrial-Southern aesthetic the developer Geography of Robots grew up with. fmAura's field recordings and sound design layer over Gewgawly I's post-industrial electronic score to produce the kind of atmosphere that pulls heavily on Southern literature, pulp fiction, and classic point-and-click adventure traditions all at once. The game is fictional but the place it draws from is very real.
