About Orten Was The Case
Orten Was The Case sets you up as Ziggy, a young guy from the fictional Swedish neighborhood of Orten, who wakes up one Sunday morning with a strange mark on his hand and no memory of the night before. Twelve minutes later, an explosion levels the neighborhood and Ziggy snaps back to waking up in his bedroom. The loop will continue until you stop it.
Progress works on accumulated knowledge rather than items or stats. Each loop teaches you something new: an overheard conversation, a discovered note, a timeline event you can use against the people responsible. Clues persist across loops even when items don't, so the goal is figuring out exactly what to do in twelve minutes once you finally know enough.
The Midnight Council is the antagonist, a group that always seems one step ahead. The mystery of what happened in town forty years ago feeds the main plot, which weaves through Ziggy's weird neighbors, his actually-helpful friends, and a hand-painted 2.5D Swedish suburb that feels lived in. Puzzles are environmental, observational and conversational rather than mechanical.
