About POSTAL
POSTAL is the original 1997 isometric shooter that launched Running With Scissors as a studio and made The POSTAL Dude a recurring figure in transgressive PC gaming. The setup is bare: a man in a long coat, a town that has come apart at the seams, and gunmen around every corner who'd rather you didn't make it home. The game's whole arc is killing them before they kill you, level by level.
The arsenal carries the gameplay. Nine weapons cover the full arcade-violence spectrum — a scatter gun for crowd control, grenades and mines for area denial, heatseeker rockets for groups across the map, the napalm launcher for everything else. The enemy roster pulls from a similarly maximalist register: Molotov-tossing grenadiers, gun-toting infantry, rocket-firing heavy weapons specialists you have to duck under, and angry ostriches — which are exactly as ridiculous as they sound and exactly as deadly.
This Steam release ships with 22 levels — the original 16-level campaign, four levels from the Special Delivery expansion, and two previously Japan-exclusive levels — plus 22 bonus Challenge stages across four categories, joined into a single Gauntlet mode for completionists. Modern control schemes for mouse or dual analog sticks replace the original's tank controls, LAN multiplayer supports up to 16 players in co-op or deathmatch, and the original fully-voiced Japanese audio track is included.
