About Race The Sun
Race The Sun is a high-speed arcade racing game with a single brutal premise. You pilot a solar-powered craft that needs sunlight to stay alive. The sun is setting. The horizon is approaching. You hurtle toward the sunset in a futile race against time, and the only way to delay the inevitable is to catch energy boosts that briefly reverse the setting sun. The rules are simple: don't crash, stay in the light, don't slow down.
The gameplay is arcade-pure. Short game sessions, focused on high scores, mixing pure fun with the nerve-wracking tension of a death timer constantly ticking forward. The procedurally generated world changes every day, so the same player can't lock in muscle memory for repeat top scores indefinitely — the layout shifts at midnight UTC and forces re-learning.
The progression layer rewards continued play. Complete objectives to unlock upgrades and level up your ship across 25 levels. Customize with attachments like faster turning or decals. World portals scattered through the procedural world transport you to user-created levels built with the in-game editor, and the ultra-hard unlockable Apocalypse world waits at the end of the progression curve for players who've earned it.
A built-in editor lets you create your own endless worlds, with full Steam Workshop sharing for community creations. Note that VR support is currently Windows-only. The whole game is short, sharp, and exactly committed to the arcade-shooter ethos — every run is brief, every run has stakes, and the leaderboard climb is the real long-term game beneath the short individual sessions.
