About Rise to Ruins
Rise to Ruins from SixtyGig Games blends godlike village simulation with tower defense and survival mechanics. By day you expand the village — building, gathering, recruiting — and by night monster hordes attack, requiring layered defenses and direct godly intervention to keep your settlers alive.
You're not just managing villagers from above. As a god, you can reshape terrain, blast enemies, pick up and move objects or people, heal, and accelerate resource growth. The boundary between village sim and tower defense blurs — you build walls, towers, and golem armies, and your own godly powers fill the gaps in your defenses.
Five named modes shape the difficulty: Survival is the standard punishing experience, Traditional dials down monsters for casual play, Nightmare cranks them up, Peaceful removes them entirely, and Sandbox/Custom let you fiddle with every parameter.
The game has received years of free content patches with no paid DLC and no DRM — both stated philosophical commitments from the developer. Maps span themed biomes (forest, desert, drylands, etc.), the soundtrack by Bibiki Garcia leans 90s-PC orchestral, and the overall ethos sits closer to a passion project than a commercial release.
