About SLUDGE LIFE
SLUDGE LIFE drops you into a tiny island stuck on a sludge-covered planet as GHOST, an upcoming tagger trying to stake their claim among the graffiti elite. The vibe is thick enough to taste — corporate-branded landscape, neon decay, slacker NPCs with strong opinions about absolutely everything. Curiosity and free will are your only motivators; the game has no quest log, just an island full of stuff to discover.
The core verb is vandalism, specifically graffiti tagging. Explore the island, find good walls, tag them. The corporate antagonist is GLUG, the sludge-pumping company responsible for the planet's environmental state. The campaign offers three distinct endings: become king of the island by tagging every open inch, infiltrate GLUG to find a way off the planet, or take everything down in flames with you.
The details are the personality. A laptop you can use lets you find and download apps to waste your life away playing a game inside the game. Smoke Ciggy Cigs brand cigarettes. Take photos of exotic fauna and ambivalent NPCs. There's a huge baby, a community basketball court, a cat with two buttholes (no extra charge), and a dedicated fart button. The credits are pretty robust. The whole project is the kind of small weird thing only Devolver Digital would publish — and it lands beautifully.
