About Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is an original third-person action-adventure inspired by the mythology of ancient Egypt. The campaign follows Sphinx as he travels between worlds via magical Solar Disc portals — relics of an ancient Universal Empire that once joined multiple worlds together — in an attempt to foil the evil plans of Set. The journey requires all his wits, agility and special powers, plus the reluctant assistance of his Mummy companion when subtlety is the only viable option.

The two-character system is the game's signature design. Sphinx handles direct combat with his expanding array of skills — fighting deadly mythical monsters, navigating perilous traps with acrobatic ease, capturing enemy abilities using beetles to weaken foes and unleash their powers at will. The Mummy takes over for stealth and unconventional approaches: when strength and combat skills aren't the right answer, the Mummy's flexibility lets you avoid enemies, solve puzzles and sabotage right under their noses. Switching between the two characters across the game's challenges is part of the design.

The lore underpinning the game gives it more weight than the premise suggests. The Universal Empire's collapse separated worlds for so long that many no longer recognize each other, and two opposing forces — one positive, one negative — are trying to restore it with very different intentions. The Great Wall of Heliopolis was built to protect civilians from the Solar Disc portals because of how dangerous the chain of communication between worlds has become. Fantastic graphics for its era bring the mythical world based on Egyptian legends to life across an immersive storyline and several distinct realms.
