About SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated
Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated is the modern remake of the 2003 SpongeBob SquarePants 3D platformer that quietly became one of the most beloved licensed games of the era. THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp Studios rebuilt the original from the ground up while staying faithful to the level design, character moves and pacing that made the original work, then layered new visuals, polish, restored cut content, and a multiplayer mode on top.
Three playable characters cover the campaign, each with their own unique abilities. SpongeBob's bubble attacks and karate kicks handle most of the platforming and combat; Patrick can pick up enemies and throw them, plus belly-flop on heavy switches; Sandy lassoes and uses her texas-rope skills for traversal. Plankton's evil plan to take over Bikini Bottom with an army of wacky robots provides the framing for a tour through the show's most familiar settings, populated by a long bench of supporting characters from the source material.
The remake adds high-end visuals, modern resolutions and polished controls, restores content that was cut from the original (most notably the Robo Squidward boss fight that fans had been asking about for the better part of two decades), and includes a brand-new horde mode for up to two players online or offline. Underneath the upgrades, the game is openly trying to preserve the specific 2003 sensibility — colourful platforming, light combat, character-voiced humour that lifts directly from the show — rather than reinventing it.
