SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is the 3D platformer that follows the Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated formula and extends it. SpongeBob and Patrick acquire wish-granting Mermaid's Tears from a fortune teller named Kassandra, naturally overuse them, and tear open the fabric of reality — opening portals into seven Wishworlds full of cowboys, knights, pirates, prehistoric snails, and the rest of the surreal cast the show built its identity on.

The platforming vocabulary mixes classic and new skills — the Fishhook Swing, the Karate Kick, plus over 30 unlockable cosmic costumes that include SnailBob, SpongeGar, and others. Each Wishworld carries a distinct theme: Wild West Jellyfish Fields, Halloween Rock Bottom, and others, with platforming challenges tuned to each setting's visual identity.

The show's original voice actors return for every familiar Bikini Bottom resident. Balloon-Patrick — Patrick reimagined as an inflatable companion strapped to SpongeBob's back — provides the buddy-movie banter throughout the campaign. The composers of Battle for Bikini Bottom returned for the soundtrack, alongside dozens of songs pulled directly from the show.
