About Hell Pie
Hell Pie is a 3D platformer in the lineage of Banjo-Kazooie and Mario 64, with the tone pushed deliberately into the gutter. You play Nate, the Demon of Bad Taste — the eighth deadly sin, considered a joke by his peers — tasked with collecting Satan's birthday pie ingredients across a series of weirdly themed worlds.
Nate's chained companion is Nugget, a small angel who functions as both grappling hook and weapon. Swinging Nugget on the chain is the central traversal verb; he also offers cryptic hints when stuck. Different horn types collected in each world grant new movement abilities, expanding the platforming toolkit as you go.
Four large worlds contain the platforming challenges, with smaller dense levels punctuating them. Outfit shopping, collectibles, and stretch goals fill the typical mascot-platformer checklist. The studio (Sluggerfly) and publisher (Headup) are upfront that the game's content includes drug references, violence, sexual content, and several jokes about ducks.
The gameplay underneath the crude exterior is serious craft — a generous moveset, considered level design, and the kind of collect-a-thon structure that the genre's fans tend to want.
