Between Horizons

Between Horizons is set aboard the Zephyr, humanity's first generation ship en route to another star. 33 years into the journey, the mission is suddenly jeopardized. You play Chief of Security Stella, born on the ship 24 years ago, diving into a conspiracy that threatens both the social order and the broader mission.

The game merges investigation gameplay with a branching sci-fi story in an ever-expanding Metroidvania-style environment. A flexible evidence system lets you assign clues to cases, confront people about them, and solve any case at any point. Everything you find may or may not be connected to the mystery, and failure is very much an option: submitting an incorrect solution carries consequences as the story branches and ends based on your decisions.

DigiTales applied lessons from their first game Lacuna to maximize player agency in the investigation process while maintaining tight pacing. Underneath the sci-fi plot lie thought-provoking questions about intergenerational responsibility versus personal freedom. Pixel art merges with 3D environments and modern effects into a unique style, and a 2D-only mode is available if you prefer the classic look.
