BIOMORPH

BIOMORPH is a hand-drawn metroidvania built around shape-shifting. The protagonist kills enemies and absorbs their forms, then uses each creature's abilities for both combat and traversal. A flying enemy unlocks a flight ability; a heavily armored one opens passage through breakable walls; an aquatic creature lets you cross flooded areas.

Defeated enemies eventually return with new and stronger powers, so revisited zones feel different on each pass. Combat layers melee and ranged weapon arsenals on top of the borrowed creature abilities, with separate upgrade trees per weapon and equippable skill chips for build customization. The map is non-linear, sprawling and dense with optional bosses, secrets and side paths.

A central hub city, Blightmoor, can be rebuilt and customized through play. Residents return as you progress, and helping them reveals the broader story of how the civilization fell. The protagonist's own origins are tangled up in that history, and the more you absorb, the more uncomfortable the truth becomes. Every environment is hand-painted with attention to scale, lighting and creature design.
