About Hades II
Hades II is Supergiant Games' first-ever sequel, picking up the rogue-like dungeon crawler formula of the original and pointing it in a different direction within the same Greek myth setting. You play Melinoë, the immortal Princess of the Underworld, and your goal is no longer to escape — it's to push beyond the Underworld and bring down the Titan of Time with the full backing of Olympus. The mythic scope is wider, the world is bigger, and witchcraft sits alongside divine power as a parallel branch of the toolkit.
Combat builds on what Hades did and complicates it. Your legendary weapons of Night can be infused with ancient magick that fundamentally alters how they behave, and Boons from more than a dozen Olympians — Apollo, Zeus and the rest — stack into builds with the same near-limitless interactions as the original. New systems layer on top: the Altar of Ashes, witchy familiars you can tame, and Tools of the Unseen used to gather reagents that feed back into your loadout.
The presentation is unmistakable Supergiant. Dozens of fully voiced characters — many returning, many new — react to your progress with bespoke story events shaped by what you've actually done across runs. Hand-painted environments are paired with smoother real-time 3D characters than the first game managed, and the score keeps the operatic, action-driven texture of the studio's earlier work. Permanent upgrades and an optional God Mode keep the experience accessible for players who'd rather watch the story unfold than perfect the dodge timing.
