About Heroes of the Three Kingdoms 2
Heroes of the Three Kingdoms II (三国群英传Ⅱ) is the 1999 sequel in Odin Software's long-running strategy series, set against the backdrop of the late Han dynasty civil wars. The game introduced real-time strategy time concepts to the series alongside the existing turn-based political layer, with internal affairs, combat, a CD-audio soundtrack, and detailed background maps.
The political loop runs on a yearly cycle. Each January you enter internal affairs mode — cities you control generate tax revenue, growing populations expand both tax income and the recruit cap. The Search command finds generals, weapons, mounts, military tokens, and special items, which the Use Item command then distributes to generals to raise their stats or loyalty. An Autonomous Administration command automates search and development for cities you'd rather not micromanage.
The big map shows cities flying different-colored banners and the routes between them, with troop units visibly moving along the roads. Two armies meeting on the same route — or one army entering another faction's city — triggers tactical combat. After battle, surviving enemies become prisoners whose fate you decide: persuade them to defect, behead them, or release them. Note: Chinese-language only, no English localization.
